Four year olds are preparing for Kindergarten!
Our Pre-K curriculum is focusing on the skills and concepts that the children will need in Kindergarten.
We believe in nurturing the whole child; mentally, physically, socially, and emotionally, to develop a child with the confidence to face new challenges.
We try to expose the children to as many new experiences as possible to help develop their curiosity and love of learning.
Skills and concepts that are focused on are –
Phonics and Reading
Recognition of name, sound and picture of long and short vowels and consonants
Sounding of blends and one or two vowel words
Reading of sentences and stories with one and two vowel words
Formation of letters, blends and words
Language development and listening skills that include color words, shapes, animals, transportation, countries, community helpers, safety, manners and science
Number recognition and counting 1 – 100
Number concepts 1 – 20
Number before and after 1 – 20
Number largest and smallest 1 – 20
Coloring pages, directed art, and other activities help the young child develop writing readiness, eye-hand coordination, visual perception, listening and thinking.
